Putting weight on my dog!?

I have a one year old Mastiff/Boxer mix. He is about 12 lbs underweight. I think I'm not feeding him enough. He gets about 4 cups of dry food a day (2cups twice) and some cottage cheese in the AM. Is that enough? He is a pretty active dog.
