Should I go to visit this guy?

We met when I was visiting friends in his country 6 weeks ago & hit it off. Inseparable for a couple of days (met at the end of my stay). He asked me to cancel my ticket & stay on but I had to return to work. So he said 'come back next mth'. I said 'you can come to see me too'. So last thing when we said bye he looked in my eyes & said 'see you in xxx (my home country)'. We've emailed since...casual 'wish you could have stayed' kind of stuff. Today he said 'hi' on chat & he invited me for dinner (little joke as he lives a flight away)., I asked if he could make it over & he said depends on the flights. I would LOVE to visit him but feel he should as he is the guy. Is this wise or silly of me? I really like him & he is keeping in touch
